Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – OSWEGO, NY – Tyler Thompson, the 2018 Oswego Speedway and ISMA Supermodified Rookie of the Year, returns to karting this weekend at the Center of Progress building on the New York State Fairgrounds for the 26th annual NYS Indoor Championships on November 30 and December 1.
After competing across the country in DIRTcar Sportsman and Supermodified action in 2018, Thompson is eager to once again wheel a Slack Karts machine this weekend.
“I always enjoy running karts, especially indoors with Slack Karts and Performance Manufacturing,” said Thompson. “We have won a lot of races at Syracuse in recent years, but never the PRO main. We have our sights set on that this weekend.”
Since 2015, Thompson has won four main events at the NYS Indoor Championships including the Senior Champ Animal main just one year ago.
Last year, Thompson came up just short in PRO action, taking fourth in PRO Clone and second in PRO 4-cycle behind Tyler Brown.
In total, Thompson finished on the podium in four events during 2017 indoor racing in Syracuse.
For the first time racing will be split into two days for this weekend’s championship events in Syracuse.
Friday night will see mostly Flathead competition as Thompson will battle for the win in the PRO 4-cycle main as well as one warm-up division.
Saturday afternoon Thompson will compete in PRO Clone and Champ.OtO
