Column By: STEPHEN DURHAM / RPW – NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH – Ben Rowe out of Turner, Maine came into White Mountain Motorsports Park winless since the 2016 season campaign. He won’t have to worry about being winless now in 2018 and with a brand-new racecar on only its second race. Rowe came in understanding his Senneker chassis super late model was good for tracks like White Mountain, but in practice Rowe wonder if the car would be fast. His crew told him not to worry, and they were clearly right as he was able to grab the checkers for the win.
The win didn’t come easy for the Rowe, as he started second row outside behind some very competition of Johnny Clark and Trevor Sanborn on the front row. Clark lead most of the race, but while duking it out with the 29 of Sanborn who would cut down a right front to bring a caution out.
This would set up as Ben Rowe would put it, “A couple of old has been” to fight it out for the lead. Rowe didn’t know if he’d be able to get around the 54 of Johnny Clark when he found his groove around the middle portion of the track and begin to drive away from the 54. Rowe took the lead on lap 109 after Clark lead since the first green flag.
Johnny Clark who had a fast car early on, was hungry for the win and said he had to go when starting on the front row after the last couple years have been rough going. Clark on the final restart got stuck on the inside and fell back to fourth where he would finish.
Finishing runner up for the PASS 150 was Mike Polewarczyk out of Hudson, NH who came from row 9 and contended for the win late in the race. The Hudson native said he knew the car was a good handling car but was lacking the speed on the charts. He was satisfied to come from deep and run a good clean race with Ben Rowe as he has felt always respected from him and come home with a 2nd place finish.
The driver to finished third deserves an A+ for effort and an A for the result after blowing a motor in practice early , going home and changing the motors and coming back to White Mountain and starting last on the field. That driver is Dillon Moltz. The decided to take the car home and borrow a motor from a friend, and got it back up to Woodstock to make the feature race. Moltz goal was to go out and drive her heart out for his crew after putting a lot of time into the car and getting him back out on the track.
Rounding out the top 5 for the PASS 150 was the young gun of Gabe Brown who recently just turned 16 and won the championship over at Oxford Speedway last week. Brown was able to get up to third, but the low began to fade, but was happy to be running up with the fast guys of the PASS North Series.
The points leader on the Pro All Star Series coming into tonight is DJ Shaw who was able to salvage a solid top 10 in sixth tonight. Shaw came in with high expectations but is happy to get the points and keep the consistency up and the momentum in his favor as he hunts for the 2018 crown in the PASS North series.
Drivers with some issues tonight was that of defending winner Derek Griffith, Travis Benjamin, Glen Luce, and Garrett Hall. Derek Griffith dealt with handling issues bringing it in on lap 103 for adjustments, but was able to come home ninth.
Travis Benjamin and Garrett Hall were in the middle of the pack as Benjamin dealt with handling issues and said he lacked speed and would come home 13th . Hall had issues with his car as well during the main event and came in multiple times to try and sort things out. He would come home 11th
Glen Luce had a rough night as he got caught up in an accident earlier in the night in his heat race and would start in the back of the feature. Luce wouldn’t be able to do much from there and would pit a would come home with a disappointing 22nd place finish.
Also, on the night with the PASS Series was the 1st Segment of the 75 lap Tiger feature that would be won by Justin Eldridge. Winning in the dwarfs division was Bobby Brown.
