Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – WILLIAMSON, NY – Through the efforts of defending Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series champion, Mike Leaty and his championship winning crew chief, Jeff DeMinck and the Catalano family have put together an extensive lap program and list of bonuses including $500 in certificates from Troyer Race Cars in Rochester, N.Y.
The $100 certificates from Troyer Race Cars will be awarded to the 1st, 6th, 12th and 18th place finishers in addition to the car running in the last position on lap 25.
Qualifying race winners will be receiving a $50 gift certificate courtesy of F/A Products (www.faproducts.com) in the Modified division.
Several other special awards will be presented including; B&A Racing – Hard Charger and Hard Luck $100 per Award. Bobby Shine will present the first car out of the race $100. “Life’s a Journey Always Travel Far & Often” Longest Tow Award from Don & Paula Abel $100. The highest finishing Father Award from Carl Rice $100. “The Tin Man” Award from Cornerstone Realty and Cino Farms $200. Worst finishing car on the track in Memory of Wes Hawkins #9505 from Ken Hawkins $50. Best Appearing Car determined the Fisher Family $100 and the “Pops is Tops” in Fast Time group qualifying $100.
In addition several “extra” money laps are available in the race. The Leaty family is paying out $500 ($100 to several specified positions) on lap 25. Lap 61 will be worth $250 in Memory of Richie Evans from John VanDusen. The Catalano family has posted $154 for lap 54, while there are several other bonus laps at $100.
The event night is being presented by Rochester Steel Treating Works, Inc. (www.rstwinc.com) and Cavallaro-Neubauer Chevrolet and Buick.
The gates open at 5 pm at Spencer Speedway for fans with racing to follow at 7 pm. General Admission tickets for the event are just $22, with a Senior and Military ticket being $19 (adult $2 coupons are available for the event throughout the region); Children 6-11 years of age are $8 and children 5 and under are free.
