Story By: PAUL ARUTE / STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY – STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT – Bud Light, the world’s favorite light beer, has officially signed on to sponsor the July 13th Bud Light Open Modified 80.
The Friday, July 13th event is the 2nd Open Modified event of the 2018 Stafford Speedway season. The inaugural event was won by the outlaw Tommy Barrett in commanding fashion with an off sequence pit strategy and a late bonsai move on Rowan Pennink.
Eric Goodale, Pennink, Dave Etheridge, Woody Pitkat, Chase Dowling, and more are back for the July 13th Bud Light Open Modified 80 to try and capture the $3,500 payday along with the 80 Ice Cold Bud Light’s that will accompany the winner’s trophy in NAPA Auto Parts Victory Lane.
“When David [Arute] told me about how the fans and drivers reacted to the June Twisted Tea Open Modified event, we were excited to get involved,” explained Brett Hollander, Marketing and Craft Beer Sales Manager at Hartford Distributors, Inc. “All of us at Hartford Distributors and Bud Light, along with myself, are very excited to be a part of this great event at Stafford Motor Speedway. Can’t wait to see another great modified race at Stafford and make sure the driver is hydrated in victory lane.”
Set to accompany the Bud Light Open Modified 80 is the recently announced Ted Christopher 13-lap shootout for the SK Modified® division to follow the regularly scheduled 40 lap feature. The top-13 finishers in the 40-lap event will be inverted and set to run the shootout for a prize of $1,300.
Stafford and Bud Light have also lined up plenty of off track action including a Bud Light Happy Hour to be held from the time general admission gate open (5:15pm) to 6:15pm where Bud Light 16 ounce drafts will be $3. After the completion of happy hour, 24 ounce cans will be $2 off for the rest of the evening. Bud Light will also be on hand with a midway display.
“We are ecstatic to have another world renowned brand sign-on to support our new Open Show concept,” explained Stafford Speedway Assistant General Manager David Arute. “I can’t thank Brett Hollander and HDI Distributors enough for working with us on for this event. If you thought the Twisted Tea 80 was fun this one will be even bigger. The winner will have 80 ice cold Bud Lights in Victory Lane, the fans will get a Bud Light Happy Hour, and every starter will receive a 12-pack after the race to enjoy with their crew. We want the July 13th Bud Light Open Modified 80 to go down in Dilly Dilly history.”
