Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – Following two ‘twin’ format events in three races to begin Oswego Speedway’s ‘Road to the Championship,’ the Novelis Supermodifieds will now compete in their first 75-lap extra distance main of the season alongside a 35-lap special for the Pathfinder Bank SBS as part of this Saturday night’s Independence Weekend ‘Grand Prix’ presented by Galloway Century 21 and Oswego D-Bus.
The start times and schedule of events for June 30 will run off as normally observed on any other regular race night on Oswego Speedway’s 2018 schedule.
Pit gates will open at 3:00pm, grandstands will open for practice at 4:30pm, while group time trials will get underway at 6:15pm. Heat racing action will see Donny Forbes’ green flag promptly at 6:45pm with Pathfinder Bank SBS heat races first and Novelis Supermodified heats to follow shortly thereafter.
Following qualifying action, the Small Block Supers will converge in their 35-lap ‘Grand Prix’ before the 75-lap Supermodified special takes place immediately following the SBS checkered flag.
Also included as part of your admission price is the speedway’s popular fireworks show, which will be held in the pit area shortly after the conclusion of the Supermodified main event. The fireworks will be launched from the grassy area in turn three.
Long before the action gets underway, the second Novelis ‘Fan Can Chase’ of the season is on tap as well. The collection will take place just outside the speedway’s main entrance with the start of hot laps and will continue through fifteen minutes prior to the start of heat racing.
The winner of the 2018 Fan Can Chase will receive his or her choice of two 2019 regular season reserved seat tickets, two 2019 season pit passes, or two 2019 regular season SkyDeck passes for their efforts.
General admission seating is still available for this Saturday night’s action, which marks one of only two extra distance shows on the speedway’s schedule. $17 tickets can be purchased by calling the track box office at (315)-342-0646 while kids 16 and under will still remain free with a paid adult.
