Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / MISSILE MOTORSPORTS – OSWEGO, NY – Mark Castiglia’s Missile Motorsports has started 2018 in the fast lane at Oswego Speedway with drivers Anthony Losurdo and Dan Kapuscinski sitting first and fourth in the current Pathfinder Bank SBS Series Championship driving their FFB Chassis machines.
With the coming weekend off due to high school graduations, Losurdo stands as the current championship point leader by three markers over five-time champion Russ Brown.
Losurdo has finished on the podium in all three Oswego events this season with finishes of third on May 26, second in the Spring Championship on June 9, and first just last week. The June 16 victory for Losurdo came in a late race pass over teammate Kapuscinski, who followed Losurdo across the stripe in second.
Now a six-time feature winner at Oswego, Losurdo stands tied in all-time SBS wins with Tim Gareau, Ray Graham, Kreig Heroth, Dalton Doyle and his car-owner, Castiglia.
Having to start deep in the field in all three races, Losurdo has twice been named the D&S Landscaping Hard Charger this season behind the wheel of the No. 1 and has also collected two heat race victories.
In his first full season at Oswego Speedway since 2005, Kapuscinski sits fourth in the SBS championship on the heels of back-to-back podium finishes in the month of June.
Driving the No. 00M, Kapuscinski led laps on June 9 and June 16, but fell short of victory lane finishing third two weeks ago and second last weekend. Two top three finishes have helped propel Kapuscinski into the fourth spot in the standings despite a DNF in the season opener on May 26.
Having never before won an SBS main event, Kapuscinski has twice been named the Lighthouse Lanes Up and Comer and has one heat race win on the season.
Missile Motorsports returns to SBS action at Oswego Speedway on Saturday, June 30 for the annual Grand Prix 35 special.
