Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – HOLLAND, NY – The Race of Champions Late Model and Super Stock Series will return to the high banks of The Track @ Hillside Buffalo this coming Saturday night.
It is the highly anticipated return of Late Models to the high-banks. Late Models are steep in tradition at Holland dating back to the track’s beginning and spanning throughout its history including the celebrated career of the legendary Art Clark of West Seneca, N.Y., who is now inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall-of-Fame.
Sam Fullone of North Collins, N.Y., has witnessed the Late Model tradition firsthand and is excited about the return of Late Models to The Track @Hillside Buffalo (formerly Holland Speedway).
“We are really looking forward to it,” stated Fullone, who won the Race of Champions Late Model event last year at Lake Erie for the first time and finished 4th in the season opening event at Lake Erie on June 9th. “It’s a big deal for Late Model racers. Holland has always been a Late Model track and now we have the opportunity to bring it back there. We are exciting and I think it will be a great race.”
In addition to the Late Models returning to Holland the Race of Champions Super Stock Series will take part in the June 23 Autograph Night event. Tim Gullo of Elmira, N.Y., won the first race of the Super Stock season at Lancaster (N.Y.) National Speedway and leads the Series into the event.
“We have a competitive Series,” offered Gullo. “Hillside is a different challenge for us. The Series hasn’t been there in quite some time (since it was run under the Big 10 banner) and we’re looking forward to it. I think fans are in store for a treat on Saturday night. It’s going to be a good show.”
The grandstands will open at 3:00 pm with Qualifying beginning at 4:00 pm for the Saturday, June 23, 2018 event. The Track @ Hillside will host a practice on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00pm and going until sundown for $15 per car.
