Story By: DAVE BUCHANAN / LANCASTER SPEEDWAY – LANCASTER, NY – There may still be snow on the grounds of Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway, but track officials and racers were thinking spring and warmer temperatures on Saturday afternoon at the annual Driver Registration Party held at Magruder’s Pub & Restaurant in Depew, N.Y.
A total of 168 teams from the Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing and X-Press Signs Stock Car Series signed up for the 2018 season to be eligible for points in their respective classes and divisions. The numbers of registered teams continues a three-year trend of increased support from the Western New York racing community.
The breakdown of driver entries included 80 teams signing up for Friday night drags and 86 stock car teams registering to compete on Saturdays. The stock car entries were split across the three weekly home track divisions with 26 Sportsman, 40 Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks and 22 Roaming Buffalo 4-Cylinders. The stock car turnout has been so great that all pit pads have been sold out for the 2018 season.
