Column By: MATTHEW WIERNASZ / RPW – MOORESVILLE, NC – Austin Cindric is going for rookie of the year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. It is his first full year in stock cars as he ran in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Brad Keselowski Racing. This year he is racing the full schedule for Penske Racing and Roush Fenway Racing.

Cindric does have a leg up on experience when he will go race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the road course events at Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Road America, and Charlotte. NASCAR is pretty new to him. In 2016, he won two NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races at VIR and Watkins Glen. He won in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series last year Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. He raced in the Rolex 24 last month at Daytona. He’s excited to do all four of them and each of them in a different car.
Cindric has a rough start to the season after crashing out at Daytona he finished in 40th position. He rebounded at Atlanta with a top 10 finish in seventh. He had a rough finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a 34th place finish after an accident. He finished in the top 20 last week at ISM Raceway in 16th position.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series will be back at Auto Club Speedway this weekend.
